(Granted, it also features the utter violence of the Videl vs Spopovich match, which I still can't believe was put in the manga in this state, holy shit that was violent and pretty disturbing considering the manga and how "real" it felt compared to the rest of Dragon Ball fights ever since "Z" happened. With Manga 37 having the Golden Warrior reveal payoff + a fun little tournament arc. And Manga 36 (pretty much where this part takes place) was really fun and a nice change of pace. To me, Dragon Ball was at its best from Manga #1 to #17 when Goku was a kid (and when he first showed grown up in Manga 14). Also, the Great Saiyaman is a great costume for Gohan! It gave itself more time to delve into the "Normal lives" of characters we know and love while allowing us to meet new ones. And there was a fun payoff to see his friends realize he was the Golden Warrior (whatever you guys called it in English). The tone was kinda more reminiscent of older Dragon Ball, when they just had fun adventures, fought weird villains and looked for Dragon Balls. Disclaimer: I never actually watched the anime, only read the mangas.
